Historical Fiction WebQuest: Task
You are a Historical Fiction Writer.
You have decided to take on the writing of a story about the discovering and settling of America, yet in order to this, you must think like an historical fiction writer. Before you can even begin to write, you must gather information and artifacts from this time period to create a picture in your head of the world your characters live in: a picture of their daily life- their struggles, their joys, and how historical events may affect your characters' individual experiences; the details you can research are endless. You will do this research in groups, focusing on one perspective, and upload that information into a class Prezi (you will find instructions for this under the Process tab), which we will explore together during class before writing. Even though you will ultimately write from the perspective of one character of the time, you will need to get a feel for the daily lives from all perspectives in order to create a world for your character, and this Prezi will help you do that.
This Webquest is designed to help you gain a deep understanding of peoples' lives of this time, as well as the repercussions of important historical events and movements--like the settling of America, relocation of Native Americans, and system of indentured servants.
